We had another amazing dinner at Israel's! We went around 6:00pm on a Friday. We were able to snag a parking spot out front on the street and were seated as soon as we walked in. We ordered the chips & salsa (a staple). Each salsa was just as delicious as we remembered it. For my entree I ordered the Empanadas Tulum. It was so good! Everything on my plate was fresh & flavorful. The empanadas were crispy on the outside & stuffed with perfectly cooked seafood on the inside. My boyfriend ordered the Volcano for his entree & loved it! He said the meats were cooked perfectly & would get it again. The restroom was clean. But there is only one stall & the restaurant was pretty busy that night so there was a bit of a wait but nothing too crazy.

I'm still floored by how delicious this place was. We were in town on a bit of a lark, and though we've traveled so many places in the world, not quite sure we've had such complex, thoughtful and downright damned delicious Mexican inspired food. We got take out on our first night in town - and it was so amazing had to go there in person. All three salsas are amazing, as are the various queso apps (I swear there's magic Chardonnay on his cheese sauces). Mayan Conchita Pibil, drunken burrito with chorizo and beef empanadas. All AWESOME!!! But the show stopper the was the enchitadas. We were curious when we got rice with it - then dug in and realized it was unlike any enchilada-type dish we'd ever had. I can't describe its rich, earthy goodness. Just try it. Are they wine and beer only? Yes - get over it. Do you get complimentary chips and salsa? No - again - get over it. Each of their three salsas are so deliciously made in house that they shouldn't be comp'd. Are you charged 15 cents for a container to take these home? Yes - but try to find any sauce or salsa at the store for 15 cents that's this delicious. If you're pinching pennies and looking for the $7.99 combo special a la typical "Mexican" restaurants - please pass this one up. But if you're looking to spend a little more - but have your mind blown with amazing food - definitely come here. Special shout out to Claire who is the sole server/hostess/to-go taker / and manages it all with efficiency, knowledge and grace.

We dined at Israel's last night, and it was delicious! I learned it's the same owner of the La Rosita Restaurants that used to be in the same area. We arrived right around 5 pm, and we were the only guests. We were seated immediately in a booth in the main area of the restaurant. The one thing I noticed immediately was the strong smell of incense, other than that the restaurant was cozy. Our server stopped by immediate and took our drink orders. We ordered the margaritas with salt - we opted for the large size! It was a simple no frills margarita. For appetizers we ordered the salsa and guacamole, which is made fresh with chunks of cheese. The chips were fresh and seasoned perfectly. The star of the show was the hot sauce, I could drown my food in it. Spicy but also very flavorful. You do have to pay for salsa and chips but it was worth it. The guacamole was fresh and also very good! For entrees, I ordered the fajita quesadilla and my friend ordered a bean and steak burrito. The fajita quesadilla was not typical but it was incredibly tasty. I would highly recommend this place.

So as I was doing my reviews, I realized that I hadn't done a review of this place. OMG this place is a hidden gem! Isreal's Delicias de Mexico Gourmet is authentic Mexican food. I just don't know what region it's from but it was unbelievably good. I had the tongue tacos, which were fabulous. I had them traditional style. My friend's daughter had a Chardonnay chicken burrito. That was really good cause she let me have a taste, and my friend had a pork burrito which she absolutely loved the appetizers that we got were chips with a cheese sauce and we ordered a guacamole. I can't tell you how addictive this food is. It is so good. The weight staff was absolutely wonderful and Isreal spoke to us when we came in, so I don't even know how to describe the food. It was so good because I was transcended. Every mouthful was heaven and I can't wait to go back there if you're in New Albany please go by and see this little out-of-the-way spot because he is doing his thing over there and the ambience and the restaurant is fantastic. Absolutely fantastic thank you Isreal for the most wonderful food experience. I've had in a long while..

Enjoyed a pleasant midweek visit here with my ladies who lunch crew. Parking is so easy on the street directly in front of the building. Decor and seating are welcoming and comfortable. Waitstaff are attentive and helpful. The food is some of the best authentic Mexican cuisine in the region and is my first go-to suggestion to anyone who asks. We have picked up to-go orders and dined in multiple times at various locations because Chef Israel is worth following wherever he chooses to land. A tip -- ask him to suggest what he feels like creating that day, just like you would do if you were visiting a family member's kitchen, and prepare to be awestruck. We started with crisp tortilla chips and the salsa trio, which were smoky, creamy, and a bit of heat. I chose the Mayan burrito as my entree and it arrived on a platter the size of a small boat. I ended up making 3 meals from this "serving", so the initial price is well within parameters of reasonable. Will be overjoyed to return in the future.

If youve not been here you're missing THE BEST Mexican food you will ever have, outside of visiting the country. This is elevated food that is more than worth the price. My only worry is that the decor causes dissonance and will prevent many from coming in and appreciating the food.
